A few grown-up questions

Before you say hello.

Does my child need to speak Mandarin already?

The pilot is designed for children aged 5–9 who mainly speak English at home. Xiaozhu can respond to English and mixed-language input with simple Mandarin. We’re testing how well this works with real families.

Do I need to buy the toy?

No. The first experience is a phone app. The physical companion is planned for later, and registering interest does not place an order.

Can I download the app today?

Access is invitation-only while we prepare the family pilot. Sign in to apply or check whether your email has been approved. We’re starting with iOS; Android will follow after validation.

Where do I manage my child’s experience?

On the parent website, using your own account. You link the app with a one-time code, then your child can open it without logging in. You can complete setup on a single phone.

What does the application collect?

Only your contact email, the type of interest, your language preference and a campaign identifier if supplied. No child name, school or recordings. Separate parent consent and information about trial data are required before a child takes part.
